Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review by another journal. If exceptional circumstances apply, an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor.
  • The manuscript file is submitted in one of the accepted formats Microsoft Word.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The manuscript follows the required formatting: single spacing, 10-point font, italics instead of underlining (except for URLs), and all tables, figures, and illustrations are placed within the text, not at the end.
  • The manuscript adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic standards outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • For submissions to peer-reviewed sections, all instructions for ensuring a blind review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to this journal will be considered for publication provided they meet the following requirements:

  1. The submission must present a scholarly work aligned with the journal’s focus and scope, with particular relevance to fiqh and usul al-fiqh, turath studies, pesantren studies, and related areas (including Qur’anic and Hadith studies, Islamic theology, Islamic philosophy and intellectual history, Sufism and spirituality, Islam and modernity, and Islamic science and civilization). Manuscripts should be original, research-based or conceptually rigorous, and contribute to scholarly debate.
  2. The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration in any other journal.
  3. The article should include the following elements: title, author’s name, institutional affiliation, email address, abstract, keywords, main content, and references.
  4. The title must be clear, specific, and no longer than 14 words.
  5. Academic titles should not be included in the author’s name.
  6. The manuscript must be prepared in MS Word format using Palatino Linotype, 10 pt font size, 1 line spacing, on A4 paper, with a length of approximately 15–25 pages (see journal template).
  7. All submissions must contain an abstract of 75–150 words and 3–5 keywords. Research articles should include title, purpose, method, and key findings in the abstract, whereas conceptual papers should include title, purpose, and major arguments/discussion.
  8. Editorial and peer review processes may involve revisions and editorial adjustments without altering the substance of the paper.
  9. Citations and references must follow the Turabian 9th edition Style.
  10. Due to ongoing issues with the automated email system, manuscripts marked as “archived” should be considered rejected.

Jurnal Al Tarmasi is a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year online. This privacy statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, the editor-in-chief, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and the publisher (Ma'had Aly At-Tarmasi, Pondok Tremas, Pacitan, Indonesia). All personal information submitted to the journal is used exclusively for academic and editorial purposes and will not be shared with third parties without explicit permission.
